Jon Kight Ascentae

Jon Knight Managing Director, Co-Founder

Jon is responsible for overseeing all commercial elements within Ascentae, including setting the overall business strategy and defining the route to market. Jon co-founded Ascentae following two decades of experience working on ‘both sides’ of the industry and his in depth knowledge of the sector has helped to shape Ascentae’s vision for the future. Working in distribution for six years and leading an AV reseller for 13 years has given Jon a great understanding of the pressures and challenges facing the channel. Jon’s insight has brought huge opportunity and enabled him to identify significant gaps in the UK distribution market. Ascentae’s role is to bridge those gaps and bring new and disruptive technology to end users together with a dedicated network of resellers. As passionate about products as he is his people. Jon is highly committed to ensuring customers have a fantastic experience through new technology and is equally dedicated to maintaining resellers’ margins to help drive profitability and growth. Away from Ascentae, Jon is an enthusiastic father of two children, who keep him very busy when he’s not working. On the rare occasions he has any spare time, Jon will be found playing golf or tennis or enjoying a good wine with friends.

Harriet Balshaw Key Account Manager

Harriet joined the Ascentae team as a Key Account Manager, and is responsible for growing and supporting some of Ascentae’s core customers. Having worked in specialist distribution for over 6 years, she brings a wealth of knowledge from the Unified Communications industry to the team, as well as core business knowledge from a breadth of previous roles. Harriet’s passion and enthusiasm to enable the channel to understand the opportunity in modern workplace technology, and to empower end-users to reap the benefits from the fast-changing office landscape, serves as a fantastic addition to the Ascentae team.

Outside of work, Harriet likes to spend her time playing netball, walking her dog Milo, and staying active in the gym. A few cheeky G&T’s or a nice pint of IPA with friends and family at the weekend also never goes a miss!

Catherine Westwood Key Account Manager

Catherine is a Key Account Manager, responsible for helping our reseller partners maximise their opportunities and profitability across the Ascentae product portfolio. With more than 12 years of experience in specialist technology distribution, she has worked in a variety of positions in Account and Sales Management. Catherine has a genuine passion for the industry and equipping partners with innovative solutions that provide differentiation. She enjoys building strong client relationships and loves finding a way to overcome a challenge.

As a mum to two young children, free-time is low in supply! Catherine enjoys weekends outdoors ‘adventuring,’ followed by cooking the family a huge Sunday roast.

Jack Belton Account Manager

Jack is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with our range of dealers as well as finding new sales opportunities with the intention of growing the business. With a background in customer service, this is his first job in sales and he is excited to learn everything he can about the industry. Jack graduated in 2019 from the University of East Anglia with a degree in History and Politics which he thoroughly enjoyed studying. In his downtime, he loves adventurous holidays, kayaking, live music and cooking (perhaps with the occasional cocktail)!

Ian Callow Pre-Sales Solutions Specialist

Ian draws on nearly 20 years of experience in the field of technology and user adoption implementation. Identifying that the right solution helps to embed the technology within an organisation. Ian has seen the inside working of companies both good and bad during technology implementation. As such Ian believed increasingly in the power an Agile working environment can foster. Becoming a Certified ScrumMaster has provided Ian the ability to not only discuss with clients the benefits of Scrum and Agile, but the technologies that can provide ideal support solutions during a digital transformation.

Experience of technology implementation and adoption has allowed Ian to develop technological solution and deliver comprehensive end-user adoption training across a broad range of technologies.

Away from work Ian enjoys watching rugby and supporting Leicester Tigers. Walking in the ‘New Forest’ provides weekend exercise. A game of golf doesn’t go amiss but only in warm weather.

Nick Palmer Product Manager

As product manager for collaboration products including Nureva, Flabba and Ditto, Nick works closely with our vendors to ensure channel partners and their customers get the best possible experience.

With over 20 years’ experience in technology distribution, including roles in sales, marketing, product management and service, Nick’s comprehensive knowledge means he is ideally placed to understand customer needs and translate them into meaningful business propositions. Whether you need detailed product information, a professional demo or assistance with a proposal, Nick is happy to help.

With a long track record of success, Nick believes the exciting times ahead for Ascentae make it the perfect environment to continue his career.

Married with young family, Nick enjoys cooking, cricket, rugby and is an enthusiastic golfer.   A perfect day would be shooting par, and a pint at the 19th hole discussing technology or who should open the batting for England.

Alexandra Jenkinson Internal Sales Executive

Alexandra is our newest recruit having graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in summer 2020 with a degree in International Business with Spanish. Alexandra has a previous background in marketing and customer service and is looking forward to supporting customers and their end users. Alexandra is responsible for helping build and maintain profitable business relationships with our reseller channels and is eager to learn from the highly experienced sales team at Ascentae.

When Alexandra is not working, she likes to go to the gym, walk the dogs and socialise with friends and family.

Jamie Steljes Sales Support Executive

Jamie was Ascentae’s first-ever Intern. He finished university in the summer of 2020 having attended the University of the West of England studying Business & Events Management. He has joined the sales team to support and learn from the team. This includes creating quotes, organising Salesforce, researching new potential customers, and conducting demonstrations. He’s looking forward to learning from the highly experienced sales team at Ascentae.

Jamie likes to spend his weekends knocking either a tennis, football or rugby ball about or being outside in the countryside. He also loves to spend lots of time with his friends and family, especially when it comes to the Sunday roast at the end of the weekend.

As one of Ascentae’s outstanding product managers, Simon is responsible for the Evoko and Smart Media Solutions (SMS) brands. Simon’s proactive role sees him working closely with both channel resellers and their customers on all aspects of meeting room booking and management.  He takes a holistic approach, recommending technological solutions that will help organisations to modernise their meeting spaces and become an integral part of an efficiently managed workplace. Simon is passionate about innovation in the working environment and uses his specialist expertise to provide invaluable insight to channel partners. From project planning through to deployment, he offers his advanced technical and product knowledge to ensure a smooth experience for both partner and end user. Originally from a network infrastructure background, Simon has a great depth of experience working within the channel at both distribution and manufacturer level.   Away from the office, Simon is best described as ‘outdoorsy’ – often found mountain biking or playing golf in numerous hills and courses around Berkshire and Surrey.

As channel director, John is responsible for helping our dealer partners grow their business and profitability through selling Ascentae solutions. A member of the board, he also has input into the strategic direction of the company. He has an impressive pedigree in the audio visual and video communications industry. With a history in value-added distribution, he latterly worked with the innovative manufacturer Huddly, before moving to Ascentae. John’s career has seen him spend time in sales and product management, as well as strategic business positions. His time at Huddly gave him valuable insight into the challenges of bringing innovative new products to market. He believes in working closely with dealers, helping them to bring new, profitable products and services to their clients.

Andrew George Ascentae

Andrew George Finance & Logistics Manager

With 15 years’ experience in various financial roles within technology distribution, as finance and logistics manager Andrew ensures the operational efficiency and establishes the financial strategy of the business. He believes Ascentae is at a very exciting time in its development. The company is achieving traction in its growth, bringing to market disruptive and innovative technologies in a business that brings real value to its customers. Ascentae has a formidable senior management team coupled with a strong financial backing. Andrew’s role is to support the business in applying its philosophy and values, and to enhance systems and processes that truly support the customer, vendor and employee relationships. This is a company that has a great opportunity to grow and develop and his ambition is to support the progression of the company with his commercial and financial experience.

Michael Wilcox Marketing Executive

Michael is responsible for overseeing all of the marketing activities within Ascentae. This includes developing the marketing strategy and creating, deploying and measuring marketing campaigns to support our reseller community. Michael successfully graduated from the University of Winchester with an honours degree in business and marketing. He is passionate about customers and excited to be in a role where he can be instrumental in helping organisations to transform the way they collaborate. He’s looking forward to spending lots of time with resellers and end users to better understand how we can help communicate the benefits of some of the exciting products we have in our portfolio now. When Michael’s not working, he likes to play football and golf and he enjoys an active social life with friends and family.

Liam Johnson Ascentae

Liam Johnson Technical Support

Liam is responsible for overseeing all our pre and post-sales technical support, be it answering all of your complex technical questions or assisting an end-user with their product issues. He can be found going onsite to help give an analysis of the best practices a user could employ, as well as assist with the installation of our products. Otherwise, he is at the knowledge centre for Ascentae, developing and refining our internal processes, overseeing our support ticket system and engaging with our client’s technical teams to maintain deep expertise of the inner workings of all our products. He helps organize the electrical and demonstration sides of our events, including the setup and upkeep during said events. Outside of the office, Liam enjoys relaxing somewhere quiet, preferably with some dogs.
